Carrie Hits the Road to promote Play On
Carrie Underwood heads to Los Angeles to continue promotion for her brand new CD, Play On
Carrie Underwood heads to Los Angeles to continue promotion for her brand new CD, Play On. She kicks things off tonight (Monday, November 16th) with her first ever appearance on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. On Wednesday (November 18th), Carrie visits with Ellen DeGeneres where she performs and spneds some time chatting with the talk show host. On Thursday (November 19th), Carrie performs an outdoor concert on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. She wraps up her week with a performance on the American Music Awards on Sunday (November 22nd), where she is nominated for Favorite Female Country Artist. The show airs live from the Nokia Theater on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.
Play On debuted at Number One on both the Billboard pop and country albums charts last week, while her first single, "Cowboy Casanova," also claimed the top spot.
Carrie says she experimented vocally on Play On: "Well I feel like since the beginning, you know, and even on my Idol days I always had big songs, like big, long, high-note songs, and I feel like especially on Play On, on this album, I feel like there's a lot more intricacies -- like delicate parts in songs."
Carrie added it was time to show fans her 'softer side.' "It's not all about like big, loud voice all the time. There's a much softer side, so I feel like that's something I've been able to explore and we also have a bunch of big stuff on there, too, but I feel like the range and the types of songs and things like that that I'm doing is a lot more diversified than I've done on previous albums."
