Taylor Swift hasn't been out of her teenage years for very long. So, when asked what the songs on her next album will be about, she laughs and says boys and love. Swift says production on this new album is going great.
She says she's been writing it for the last two years, so this summer it's all about the finishing touches and getting in the studio and recording the last couple songs.
Taylor Swift says one of her goals in life is to be a mom. The 20-year-old is a bit young to be thinking about motherhood, but she's old enough to know that it's a serious life-long commitment that requires dedication and sacrifice. She tells InStyle magazine, "I love conversations with kids in the meet and greet lines -- little people with little voices! I love babies. Someday I would love to be a parent, but I want that time to come when I've experienced so much of the world. My life will be devoted to making that child's life as wonderful, beautiful, magical and perfect as it can possibly be. I want to wait until there is no ounce of me left that has anything self-centered to experience.
Taylor fans may be watching what the superstar wears to get fashion ideas, but Taylor says it's the fans who inspire her wardrobe choices. She told People.com, "I'm a big people-watcher. When I see a girl walking down the street wearing a really cool necklace or an outfit that's put together in a way I wouldn't have thought of, it's inspiring to me. Also, girls come through my meet and greet lines every night wearing dresses or outfits I love. That's really my favorite way to be inspired by fashion."
While Taylor endorsed a line of sundresses and jeans for the L.e.i. brand in 2008, she says there are no plans to devote time to her own line of clothing. "I'm really wrapped up in recording and writing my next album, so I've only taken on a few extra things lately. I love fashion and dressing up for red carpets, but I want to wait until I have enough time to dedicate to something like that."
Taylor was a vision in white in a floor-length Ralph Lauren gown at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute Gala benefit on Monday night (May 3rd) in New York City. Other celebrities who attended the event include Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Gwen Stefani, Anne Hathaway, Kate Hudson and Oprah Winfrey.
Taylor has been chosen as one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World. The 20-year-old ranks at Number Nine in the Artists category. The magazine's profile piece was written by Stevie Nicks, with whom Taylor collaborated at this year's Grammy Awards.
Despite the negative press Taylor garnered after her much-criticized performance at the Grammys, Stevie has nothing but glowing compliments for Taylor. Stevie wrote, "When I first got the call from Taylor Swift about performing with her at this year's Grammy Awards, I really didn't want to do it. She's 20 years old, 5 ft. 11 in. and slender; I'm 40 years older and, to be frank, neither of the other two things! I was not about to stand next to this girl on national television. But her little face just lights up like a star, and I couldn't say no."
"Taylor reminds me of myself in her determination and her childlike nature. It's an innocence that's so special and so rare. This girl writes the songs that make the whole world sing, like Neil Diamond or Elton John. She sings, she writes, she performs, she plays great guitar. Taylor can do ballads that could be considered pop or rock and then switch back into country."
"When I turned 20 years old, I had just made the serious decision to never be a dental assistant. Taylor just turned 20, and she's won four Grammys. I still walk around singing her song 'Today Was a Fairytale'. All of us girls want that boy to pick us up and think that we look beautiful even though we're in jeans and clogs. We want it at 14, and we want it at 60. Taylor is writing for the universal woman and for the man who wants to know her. The female rock-'n'-roll-country-pop songwriter is back, and her name is Taylor Swift. And it's women like her who are going to save the music business."
Starting next year, Taylor Swift's face will be at the cosmetics counter and in magazine ads.
She's the newest celebrity model for Covergirl makeup.
Swift just finished shooting her first Covergirl print ads for a new line of makeup that Covergirl is calling ``luxury products.'' The ads are scheduled to appear in January.
Taylor Swift joins Queen Latifah, Ellen DeGeneres, Rihanna and Drew Barrymore, who all model for Covergirl.
Despite a performance at the Grammys by Taylor Swift some considered less than stellar, her singing partner has only good things to say. Time asked Stevie Nicks for her comments since the magazine has named Swift one of the world's 100 most influential people.
Nicks says Swift reminds her of herself ``in her determination and her childlike nature.'' Nicks says Swift ``sings, she writes, she performs, she plays great guitar. Taylor can do ballads that could be considered pop or rock and then switch back into country.''
Nicks says when she turned 20 years old, she'd ``just made the serious decision to never be a dental assistant.
Taylor just turned 20, and she's won four Grammys.'' Nicks says she still walks ``around singing her song 'Today Was a Fairytale.'''
Taylor Swift's love life has managed to stay out of the press for a while now, probably because the 20-year-old superstar is basking in her single status. Taylor told Hello! magazine, "There's a lot to distract me from dating. I don't really sit around and wallow in being alone. It's in my comfort zone, being single.
Taylor added that she's doesn't reject the idea of love if it happened to come her way. She said, "I feel that a lot happens to you when you're not looking for it, so I'm not actively looking. I don't have a problem with being single."
Taylor has most recently been linked to Glee star Corey Monteith. Sources close to the singer insist that the two are just friends.
Taylor Swift granted the wish of Auburn University students Michael Wekall and Ryan Leander and gave them their well-deserved hugs during a surprise visit to the school's campus in Alabama. Michael and Ryan began their quest back in January by way of a website called A Hug From Taylor Swift, where they posted videos and messages to the singer to accomplish their goal. Taylor responded by issuing a series of challenges, including helping little old ladies cross the street and other good deeds which she insisted be videotaped and posted online for everyone, including her, to see.
Michael and Ryan gathered a group of students in a conference room for a special karaoke session of Taylor's songs. They had just finished a "You Belong With Me" sing-along, when a video of Taylor interrupted the performance. A minute later, Taylor emerged from a side door and took the stage wearing a "Hug from Mike and Ryan" shirt and giving both hugs and kisses on the cheek.
Taylor was eventually joined onstage by her band and they played a few songs for the enthusiastic crowd.
The superstar later Twittered, "So we might have flown to Alabama for a surprise show today. One of those unforgettable days. Thank you Auburn!"
Taylor has the highest-grossing tour of any country artist at the moment. Pollstar puts her ``Fearless'' tour at fifth place out of the top-20 tours. Rascal Flatts are ranked ninth and Brad Paisley is 10th. Carrie Underwood's tour is 13th as far as gross take at the box office. Jason Aldean is 17th and the Zac Brown Band is in 19th.
For the record, the top-grossing concert this time around in any style of music is Bon Jovi.
Taylor Swift's ``Fearless'' has become the album with the most awards in country music history. And, it's set a new Billboard record for most Top-10 hits. So, how to celebrate? Eat! ``Fearless'' was honoured at a private dinner in Nashville. ``Fearless'' has gone platinum six times and is the biggest-selling album of the last two years.
Her 2008 Fearless album Top 10s are "Love Story" (Number One), "White Horse" (Number Two), "You Belong With Me" (Number One), "Fifteen" (Number Seven), and "Fearless" (Number 10).
Taylor has sold more than 10 million albums since 2006.
